News from www.shaftesburyfestival.co.uk: We’re counting down the days to the Shaftesbury Food & Drink Festival 2016! Make a date in your diary – Sunday 15th May – to visit Dorset’s beautiful hilltop town and enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and tastes on offer. Entry is free and it’s going to be a fabulous day.

Our latest news includes details of a fabulous medieval feast at Gold Hill Museum. A free event for all the (ravenous) family, all cooking and tastings will be provided by costumed staff. The event will run from 1 pm to 3 pm so don’t be late!

There will also be a swish cookery theatre in town for the day, manned by three top local chefs serving up a selection of savoury and sweet dishes. David Griffin Shepherd (La Fleur de Lys, Shaftesbury), Mark Hartstone (La Fosse, Cranborne), and Steve Bant (Yeovil Court Hotel, Yeovil) will be cooking on the hour, starting at 10am outside the town hall.  Not only will you be delighted by the wonderful dishes they create, you’ll also be able to enter a prize draw to win a meal for two in each of their restaurants.

The provisional programme of live demonstrations includes: The Alternative Breakfast Show at 10 am, Everything’s Fishy with Steve Bant at 11 am,Game, Game, Game, Everything’s Game at noon, Jump for Joy with Spring Lamb at 2 pm, and Afternoon Sweet Delights at 3 pm.  Local businesses kindly providing  product support are: Taylors Traditional Bakers, BV Dairy, Samway’s Fish Merchants, Wiltshire Game, and Lagan Farm at Orchard Park.
